Assessments for High School Officials
There is an assessment charge of $20 for High School Officials.
If the assessment is for an upgrade from class 2 to class 1, NWOSOA will pay all of it.
If it is to improve their standing on Arbiter, the association will pay half and they must pay the other half.
Bob Oates will help coordinate assessments this season.

- Upgrade from Class 2 to 1 or Class 3 to 2 - all sports except Girls Gymnastics
- STEP 1: PRINT AN APPLICATION on www.ohsaa.org
to obtain an application form and instructions regarding examination time, place and observation procedure. (Click here to print application form) - STEP 2: COMPLETE AND RETURN THE UPGRADE APPLICATION
Complete the top portion of the application and return it to the local association secretary. The local association secretary will complete the application and forward it to OHSAA. - STEP 3: TAKE OFFICIATING EXAMS
Each applicant will take an online examination. Instructions will be sent by OHSAA.
Passing score is 80% on each examination. - STEP 4: SUCCESSFULLY PASS OBSERVATION OF OFFICIATING IN TWO SCHEDULED ATHLETIC CONTESTS
The observation of the applicant will be conducted according to local association standards and procedures. Both observations must be signed by the observing official. Observations may not be conducted by a Class 1 official working in the same athletic contest as the applicant official.
STEP 5: MUST RECEIVE ENDORSEMENT OF LOCAL OFFICIATING ASSOCIATION
Local association officer must endorse the applicant has successfully completed the upgrade requirements and recommend their promotion.
