NWOSOA Board Meeting Minutes
Board members
present: Greg Kuehnle, Bob Oates, Tom Swaisgood, Barb Nye,
Mark Fisher, Fred
Czaja and Karen Raszka
- President
Greg Kuehnle discussed the financial report in the absence of the
Treasurer. Our current money market account will be moved to a savings
account at 5/3 bank to avoid the service charges that would have been
charged if we left the account where it previously was. New signatory
cards have been submitted to 5/3 Bank for our accounts.
- President’s
Report: The 2012 high school assignor’s contract has been given to Karen
Raszka. Signed copies are on file.
She will send a copy of the contract along with the payment due to OHSAA
in the near future. The assignment contracts to the high school AD’s will
be sent to them around April 1. Jerry Snodgrass contacted Teri Potter and
asked her to schedule a State Rules Meeting for Monday, July 30 at 7:15pm.
Mark Fisher is checking to see if he can obtain space for us at Northview
HS.
- OHSAA
Report: Bob Oates announced that the High School teams who won the
sportsmanship awards are the Anthony Wayne girls and the Findlay boys.
Next year instead of giving 2 soccer balls to the coaches it was decided
to give them a plaque. Bob is attempting to schedule a high school
certification class sometime before April 30. Ref Day at the Crew will be scheduled.
It should meet the HS meeting requirement but no longer will count towards
USSF credits. Bob is reviewing the high school fitness test and is
assessing ways to improve the rating structure currently in place.
- Roger
Fey sent the following information to be presented at the meeting: 2 new
referee clinics are set up and Tom Swaisgood is working on 2 additional
clinics. Possible locations include Sylvania Southview and/or Perrysburg. We
also plan to have 2 or 3 Bridge clinics. Probably will have another last
chance recert, possibly at Tri-C in Cleveland or perhaps in Lima. The
grade 7 clinic has not been decided but at the SRC meeting Bill Nest
suggested that June 16/17 was best for him.
- Toby
Tomazic is working with Bill Nest to set up an assessor clinic no farther
south than Findlay, hopefully on April 14/15. Tom Swaisgood is trying to
get VanBuren for that clinic and dates. All those interested in becoming
an assessor should contact Toby.
You must have 3 years experience as an official and be a USSF Grade
7 official to be considered as an assessor candidate.
- College
Rep Report -Fred Czaja. Announced that Steve (Perry) Vaciluk and Danielle
Raszka have been identified as potential college refs and that they were
both recipients of scholarships to the Elizabethtown PA event. Fred is developing a mentoring program which
he plans to expand in order to help retain young officials and improve skills
of any interested members. He will be assisted by Ron Carpenter, Bob
Oates, and others. Fred, along with
Win Otto, is organizing a large party for the NWOSOA members, similar to
what we had many years ago during the days of Eddie Clements and is hoping to have it around the end
of April or first of May.
- Old
business- it was voted to return the $25 assigning fee to Craig Gauger
since he was unable to referee the games.
- New
business: The next 2 board meeting dates are April 26, 2012, and June 28,
2012. Both will be at 7pm with the location to be determined. State rules
meeting will be July 30, 2012 at 7:15 pm – location to be determined.
Karen Raszka said the AD’s need to input the HS games by March 15 so the
the preliminary run of games can be done by April 1. She also stated that
we will need to move the nwosoa.org website to a new web host as our
current host is discontinuing their service. Mark Fisher and Bob Oates
motioned to approve spending up to $10/month for web hosting fees if
necessary. All approved.
- The
meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm---motion by Mark Fisher, seconded by Barb
Nye.
